A common myth that pops up in my news-feed is the belief that Germany 'died' in 1945 and was given over to degeneracy and collective national self-loathing. This is of course true of West Germany, but the GDR flourished and provided its people with health and a healthy sense of patriotism as this lovely little video shows:
