Independence is the most essential and fundamental attribute of man, the social being. As man has independence, he becomes a man, and it is inconceivable to think of man without the independence.

Animal is totally subordinated to nature, because it is a part of nature. The animals can not maintain their existence when they do not adapt themselves to the given conditions and circumstances of nature.

For example, monkeys and elephants in tropic areas can not live when they are moved to the polar zone where polar bears live. This is because monkeys and elephants can not stand the cold of the North Pole and they are not good at fishing like polar bears. This tells the existing mode of animals is to live in the subordination of the outside world.

But man is aware of himself and separates himself from the surrounding world and even lives in confrontation with the world, unlike the animals. Herein lies the first step man takes to free himself from the subordination of the surrounding world.

Man struggles to free himself from the subordination of nature.

The blind strength of nature that surrounded people fetters man’s life activity and life considerably. But man uses the strength of nature instead of yielding before it, thus surviving and developing.

Man does not want to live in subordination to others socially. Therefore, man wages struggle to free himself from the subordination as long as there is social subjugation and fetters. No one likes to live being subordinated by others. The struggle of the slaves against slave system, the struggle of the farmers against feudal system, the struggle of the working class against exploitation and oppression of the capital and the struggle of the oppressed people against colonial ruling system are the struggles to free the popular masses from social subjugation.

The process in which man survives and works as a social being is the process of struggle to free himself from subjugation and fetters of all forms. People conduct continuous struggle against fetters and subjugation of the outside world unlike all other material beings. Herein lies one of the aspects of the contents of independence, man’s basic attribute.

Independence is, next, an attribute of subordinating the surrounding world according to one’s will and demands.

It is one of the important features of man to subjugate and dominate the surrounding world in conformity with his demand and interest without being subordinated by anything.

Man is the only being that can maintain his life through dominating the world. Since man freed himself from the animal world, he regarded the surrounding world as his arena of existence and activity and further expanded the scope of his domination in conformity with the increase of his ability and strength.

The process of man’s activity is the process of subordinating and dominating more phenomena and things in nature. Man ceaselessly transforms, changes and dominates the society as well as nature according to his demands. That man dominates society means that man makes social relations and social wealth serve himself in conformity with his demands. Here that man dominates society has nothing to do with the subjugation and domination of man by man. That man subjugates and dominates man is an act which is fundamentally contrary to social nature of man. This is because the subjugation and domination of man by man is the act to infringe upon and obliterate independence, the essential attributes of man. That reactionary exploiting classes and dominating classes exploit the popular masses is an act to infringe upon and obliterate independence of man, so it has nothing to do with man’s independence.

Like this, man does not confine himself to fighting against subjugation of the surrounding world and dominates it, thus being an independent being.

The quality to oppose subjugation of all sorts and the quality to make the surrounding world serve man’s demand are the contents of independence, so they are interlinked and expressed in the activities of the people.

If one of the qualities is missing it is impossible to have independence, the essential attribute of man or if one of the qualities is missing, the other qualities cannot be formed. These aspects that constitute independence are expressed in a uniform way in the activities of the peoples.

The decisive factor that defines man’s independence is independent ideological consciousness.

This consciousness means the awareness of the master of one’s own destiny and signifies the will to shape one’s destiny by one’s own initiative. In other words, this consciousness is a social consciousness that reflects intrinsic demand and interests of social being who is desirous to live and develop as the master of the world and destiny. Only when a man has the consciousness of independence can he conduct conscious activity to conquer nature and actively struggle against the oppressors who encroach and trample upon his independence.

Finally, the consciousness of independence is the guarantee that enables man to have independence and this consciousness proves that man has independence.

Independence is the life and soul of man. When independence is referred to as man’s life and soul, it means social and political integrity

Man has a physical life and also social political integrity. The physical life is what keeps a man alive as biological organism; social and political integrity is what keeps him alive as a social being. As man is a social being, social and political integrity is more valuable than physical life. Accordingly, if man is deprived of his social and political integrity, he is as same as the dead although he is alive.

What is the difference between man’s life and animal’s life, if the life of man is simply eating, dressing and keeping on his life? Therefore, people fight against oppressors for independence, social and political integrity, as long as they are alive.

In history there are many righteous people who devoted their lives for the independence of the popular masses and for the freedom and happiness of the people.

There are many stories about the heroic soldiers who devoted their valuable lives for the independence of the country and freedom of the people in the long course of the Korean revolution under the banner of the Juche idea.

“I am a youth of liberated Korea.

Life is valuable.

So is the hope for the bright future.

But my life, my hope and my happiness

Are less valuable than the destiny of my fatherland.

I have only one life,

But no life, no hope and no happiness

Are so noble, so beautiful and so great

Than to devote my only one life

For my only one fatherland.”

This poem written by Hero Li Su Bok who devoted his life at the age of 18 in the severe June 25 Korean War goes down for ever in the Korean history and powerfully encourages tens of thousands of people to the sacred struggle for the independence. Although the physical life of Hero Li Su Bok is 18 years old his valuable social and political integrity is still alive and will be immortal generation after generation.

Social and political integrity is so valuable and immortal that it cannot be bartered for anything.

Perhaps some people may doubt if the physical life has no value at all. Of course, the physical life is valuable for man. So people have wanted for a long life in good health and for this, they develop cultural fields such as public health and sports.

But to simply maintain the physical life for man can not be the fundamental purpose of life.

The physical life has value only when it serves glorifying social and political integrity.

Social and political integrity of man is maintained through the struggle to defend and realize independence. Social and political integrity of an individual is given and maintained through the struggle for the country and nation, for independence of the popular masses.

Those who do not make the struggle for the country and nation, independence of the popular masses, pursing only indolence and pleasure of individual can neither have social and political integrity nor be an independent social being nor lead a man’s life.

Indeed, independence is the basic attribute that keeps man alive and the life and soul of man, social being.

The DPRK is safe - For now.

The US and the DPRK have reached an agreement which transforms the ceasefire of 1953 into Peace.  Today's Summit is a historic occasion in which the aggressors of the USA have finally recognised the right of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to be a sovereign nation.

The key points of the summit declaration statement are as follows:

• The United States and the DPRK commit to establish new U.S.–DPRK relations in accordance with the desire of the peoples of the two countries for peace and prosperity.
• The United States and the DPRK will join their efforts to build a lasting and stable peace regime on the Korean Peninsula.
• Reaffirming the April 27, 2018 Panmunjom Declaration, the DPRK commits to work toward complete denuclearising of the Korean Peninsula.
• The United States and the DPRK commit to recovering POW/MIA remains, including the immediate repatriation of those already identified.

SMPBI cautiously welcomes the outcome of the Summit. However, there are worrying parallels to be drawn with other countries which have effectively disarmed themselves in the pursuit of peace with the USA.

Iraq and Libya are key example of nations which were threatened by the USA.  In both cases, following the destruction of their defensive capabilities, they were invaded and destroyed, They sought peace, and to prove their sincerity made themselves vulnerable. The US criminals took full advantage, and now Iraq is an occupied country, and Libya is in ruins.

If the US modus operandi follows as it always has, then Kim Jong Un (just as Saddam Hussein and Muammar al Gaddafi before him), may well have just signed his own death warrant, and opened the path for his country to be wrecked by a fake 'colour revolution' and/or a military attack.

The DPRK has started down a dangerous path. Creeping economic liberalisation threatens to let the Capitalist parasites back into the country. The existence of a McDonalds in Pyongyang is an illustration of the backwards steps away from the Juche idea.

Has Kim Jong Un saved his country from destruction by the USA, or opened the path for just that?  We hope that this summit is the path to peace.  Ideally this could be the starting point for reunification of Korea under the ideals of Juche, not the barbarism of Capitalism.  We will probably not have too long to wait to see if this was a superb piece of diplomacy, or the leadership of the DPRK walking into a trap.

Liberalism: A Mental-Developmental Disorder

What is modern (not to be confused with Classical) Liberalism?  Is it a political, economic or social ideology?  Is it a faith?  No.  Liberalism is a Mental Disorder; a disorder resulting from a failure to develop from a child to an adult.

When one debates with a liberal, one is not debating with another adult; one is debating with a person who has the outward appearance of an adult, but inwardly has the mentality of a child - and a spoilt child at that.

Liberals will not listen to reason.  This is because they are incapable of seeing the world from any perspective other than their own; in exactly the same manner as children.  When one presents a liberal with facts which disprove the verbal diarrhoea he or she is emitting, the liberal does not thank you for correcting an error, but instead will attack you for daring to question the orthodoxy he or she believes in.  This is not the rational behaviour of an adult, but is definitely what one would expect of a developmentally-retarded individual trapped in the stage of life which one would hope would be left behind upon physically leaving childhood.

Liberals are happy to espouse 'equality' but they do not understand what equality actually means.  To treat people as individuals of equal worth - with mutual respect - is an adult position.  However, to treat everyone as if they are intrinsically the same - without any differences worthy of protecting - is to fail to understand even the most basic level of biology, hence the absolutely insane liberal 'transgender' nonsense which denies the fact that outside of a very small number of hermaphrodites, there are only 2 genders.

There is a concerted plan to keep the population under Globalist liberal tyranny in a perpetual state of immaturity. There are many reasons for this, but all of them are ultimately to our disadvantage, and benefit those who seek to enslave us.

The advent of mass entertainment has been a disaster. Television could have been a tool for the education and enlightenment of the people, but it has been in reality, used as a weapon to keep us in ignorance and to prevent us realising our inner potentials. The liberal domination of the mass media has ensured that their juvenile mindset is transmitted to all who view what has rightly been called the 'idiot box'. The make-believe fantasies of the liberal bigots are beamed into the homes of the vast majority of the population, as if they were unquestionable truths. The only occasions that views contrary to the liberal lunacy are aired, is when they are carefully crafted to appear to be the ravings of individuals unfit to share the company of decent people. It is, of course, to be expected that the self-chosen guardians of liberal democracy, will use every lie at their disposal to blacken the name of those who expose their underlying dictatorial natures.

Liberals are hypocrites. The worst aspect of the liberal mentality is that they are generally unaware of the fact that their words do not match their deeds. There is no one more dangerous than he who sincerely believes that he is only acting for the good of everyone. Liberals believe that they are fighting for what is 'right'; sadly they do not understand that their good intentions are building a Hell on Earth for their own people.

The level of debate one may have with a liberal is that which one would expect with a spoilt child. There are the 'No Platform' Trotskyite types who simply refuse to debate with anyone who doesn't see the world as they do. This astounding level of arrogance can be compared with the child who jams his fingers in his ears and says "nah nah na nah nah" to prevent any possibility of any opposing view being heard. Children in adult bodies who use this method of defending their self-delusion from criticism, include many Establishment politicians, University professors and Media producers/editors. This is a problem which has become so entrenched that it has crippled any possibility of there being a real 'democracy' until liberalism is swept away.

The liberals who refuse to talk to non-liberals use the excuse that they are defending democracy by not allowing those they label as extremists (with an especial hatred for anyone who dares to comment favourably on the ideas of Stalin, the Juche ideology of the DPRK, Gaddafi's Libya, or the legitimate government in Syria), to have a place in what they define as decent society. This outright lie is nonsensical if one bothers to look beneath the surface. They are not defending democracy; they are destroying it. By dictating what can be discussed, what words can be used, who can be spoken to, what views are acceptable, they are ensuring that their own positions are not threatened. There is nothing democratic about stifling free speech and free debate.

Another childish method employed by liberals is the tactic of shouting down those they do not agree with. In a school playground, a common tactic of the bullies is to shout in the ears of those they choose to victimise. This type of behaviour is one which people should grow out of as they mature - and one which tends not to be indulged in by well-balanced individuals even in children.  The 'shouting down' tactic is one favoured by the shock troops of the George Soros, Antifa.  The likes of Antifa will purposely seek out meetings of individuals who they do not agree with, not to learn from people who hold an opposing viewpoint, but solely to shout and otherwise disrupt gatherings of their fellow citizens.  These arch-hypocrites claim that they are silencing free speech in order to protect the right to free speech!  Ignorance really is strength in the bizarre mind of the liberal.

The likes of the Antifa are fully endorsed by the UK Government, and their counterparts across the globe are likewise tacitly supported by their respective States, regardless of their anti-Establishment rhetoric.  They are happy to physically attack defenders of Sovereignty Freedom, because they are aware that they will not be arrested for assaulting their fellow citizens.  It is only because the police have become liberalised that the criminals of the Antifa are able to attack those they disagree with.  Without police backing, the cowardly Antifa thugs would not be able to threaten anyone.  In many cases the Antifa in fact ARE the police.  They are simply a variation of the old CID - they are still C.... In Disguise!

The liberals who claim to be fighting for the freedom of the people employ the No Platform tactic, backed up by the Shouting Down tactic, and ultimately the Physical Violence approach.  These are the actions of developmentally-retarded people who may have the physical appearance of adults, but have the thought processes of children; of damaged children.  They cannot appreciate that people are entitled to their own opinions; they believe that everyone must have THEIR opinions.  Children in the school playground can be expected to behave in childish ways.  Indeed, it is natural that everyone passes through the various stages of life, fully immersing in each one before moving on to the next.  As children, we must think, speak, reason and behave as children, but then we must put away the childish ways of living and become adults.  When the time is right we have to grow up.  Liberals do not grow up, but remain trapped in childhood, complete with tantrums and the inability to accept that they are not the centre of the universe.

The liberal mindset believes itself to be righteous, whereas it is nothing but self-righteous.   Those who endlessly prattle about tolerance are the most intolerant of all people.  They will weep tears of indignation for the people who have been bombed by NATO, but rather than call for NATO to be disbanded, they will call for the borders of (nearly) all countries to be abolished so that there is no break to mass migration.  They could not care less about the impact upon jobs, services and infrastructure of mass migration - living in their cosy bourgeois bubbles unaffected by the impact of their policies, which are destroying Working Class communities.  The hypocrites even manage to ignore the Apartheid regime in occupied Palestine, highlighting that they have been seriously compromised by Zionist money.

Liberal policies have destroyed our economies and reduced the Working Class to the position where we must go to food banks whilst the Ruling Class and their bourgeois puppets live the high life at our expense.  The tragedy unfolding as a result of Merkel inviting the entire world to the EU has led to the Swedish Communist Party having to organise patrols to protect Women from migrants who have arrived in vast numbers, completely unvetted, and amongst whom are many rapists.  The liberal bigots have turned on anyone who highlights the dangers of open borders, so now, these self-proclaimed anti-racists will scream from the rafters that those of us on the Real Left (as opposed to their liberal Trotskyite Capitalist impostor) are 'fascists' who must be destroyed.   Hypocrisy and hatred are the underlying realities of the liberal personality.

Liberalism is a mental disorder which has been carefully crafted to weaken us as a people.  It is not natural, and indeed it has to be enforced by the police state in order to survive.  The vast majority of those who have been artificially kept in childhood, could be broken from this condition if normality was allowed to be restored.  The active liberals who defame their own people require more active treatment to cure them of their sickness.  It is possible that the active liberal suffers an innate developmental disorder, and that they deserve our pity, just as does anyone with a mental illness.  What they deserve is therapy; what they do not deserve is to hold any positions of authority over healthy people.

We need to replace the liberal poison with Patriotic Socialism.  Only then can we finally move forward to a natural society in which adults are adults, children are children, and the distinction is recognised and cherished.  It is no coincidence that countries beset with liberalism are also the most damaged by pædophilia, which is itself a result of a failure to advance from childhood into adulthood.  Those  who are most damaged by the developmental retardation of liberal society fail to stop identifying with children whilst simultaneously becoming sexually active.  This does not excuse pædophilia - there can never be any excuse for it. Yet liberals are pushing the 'trans' nonsense to suggest that it is possible to be physically one thing (male, old, occidental) and by virtue of subjective feelings, 'be' something else (female, young, oriental etc). Liberalism is more than a mental health problem, it is an active danger to our children, and to this end, it has to be dealt with seriously, and it has to be dealt with now.  Socialism does not tolerate the intolerable, and in a Socialist British Isles, the pædophile problem would be wiped out physically and permanently.

Understanding the 'Liberal' mindset is not difficult and it should be quite obvious how easily it is to infiltrate their ranks for whatever purpose one may have in mind; tell them what they want to hear and you are soon deep behind enemy lines. The average 'Liberal' is mentally very fragile, easy to break them down and allow them to spiral to their own demise. Befriend a 'Liberal' today, but do not try to convert them, just destroy them, or rather allow them to destroy themselves; they will find a way, with a little help.

Socialism without Nationalism is a Fraud and a Failure

Trotskyites and their modern descendants - the SJWs - are the enemies of Socialism.  Socialism is the reordering of Society for the betterment of the Nation.  Those who go to great pains to show that they are concerned with the plight of peoples far across the globe, and that this concern requires the compete ending of borders so that the entire world can make its ways to our shores - these people are not Socialists, they are lunatics, parasites and traitors.  It is the Working Class who suffer when mass immigration is used by the Capitalists to break organised labour power, to drive down wages, to undermine hard fought for Workers' Rights.  The globalists who want to see our borders gone, do not care about the damage they do to the Working Class.  They only care about how their Middle Class chums respond to their pathetic virtue signalling.  They are a menace which a Socialist society would have to sweep away.

True Socialism is Nationalist.  It isn't racist, chauvinistic or supremacist - it puts the Nation first, as a foundation stone for  better world of International Cooperation, in which free sovereign nations live side by side.  Nationalism in the Socialist understanding is anti-Globalist.  Capitalism and liberal/Trotskyism are two sides of the same coin - and we reject both.

The great Irish patriot, and Socialist Revolutionary, James Connolly wrote (in Shan Van Vocht, January 1897):

Now traditions may, and frequently do, provide materials for a glorious martyrdom, but can never be strong enough to ride the storm of a successful revolution.

If the national movement of our day is not merely to re-enact the old sad tragedies of our past history, it must show itself capable of rising to the exigencies of the moment.

It must demonstrate to the people of Ireland that our nationalism is not merely a morbid idealising of the past, but is also capable of formulating a distinct and definite answer to the problems of the present and a political and economic creed capable of adjustment to the wants of the future.

This concrete political and social ideal will best be supplied, I believe, by the frank acceptance on the part of ail earnest nationalists of the Republic as their goal.

Not a Republic, as in France, where a capitalist monarchy with an elective head parodies the constitutional abortions of England, and in open alliance with the Muscovite despotism brazenly flaunts its apostasy to the traditions of the Revolution.

Not a Republic as in the United States, where the power of the purse has established a new tyranny under the forms of freedom; where, one hundred years after the feet of the last British red-coat polluted the streets of Boston, British landlords and financiers impose upon American citizens a servitude compared with which the tax of pre-Revolution days was a mere trifle.

No! the Republic I would wish our fellow-countrymen to set before them as their ideal should be of such a character that the mere mention of its name would at all times serve as a beacon-light to the oppressed of every land, at all times holding forth promise of freedom and plenteousness as the reward of their efforts on its behalf.

To the tenant farmer, ground between landlordism on the one hand and American competition on the other, as between the upper and the nether millstone; to the wage-workers in the towns, suffering from the exactions of the slave-driving capitalist to the agricultural labourer, toiling away his life for a wage barely sufficient to keep body and soul together; in fact to every one of the toiling millions upon whose misery the outwardly-splendid fabric of our modern civilisation is reared, the Irish Republic might be made a word to conjure with – a rallying point for the disaffected, a haven for the oppressed, a point of departure for the Socialist, enthusiastic in the cause of human freedom.

This linking together of our national aspirations with the hopes of the men and women who have raised the standard of revolt against that system of capitalism and landlordism, of which the British Empire is the most aggressive type and resolute defender, should not, in any sense, import an element of discord into the ranks of earnest nationalists, and would serve to place us in touch with fresh reservoirs of moral and physical strength sufficient to lift the cause of Ireland to a more commanding position than it has occupied since the day of Benburb.

It may be pleaded that the ideal of a Socialist Republic, implying, as it does, a complete political and economic revolution would be sure to alienate all our middle-class and aristocratic supporters, who would dread the loss of their property and privileges.

What does this objection mean? That we must conciliate the privileged classes in Ireland!

But you can only disarm their hostility by assuring them that in a free Ireland their ‘privileges␁ will not be interfered with. That is to say, you must guarantee that when Ireland is free of foreign domination, the green-coated Irish soldiers will guard the fraudulent gains of capitalist and landlord from ‘the thin hands of the poor’ just as remorselessly and just as effectually as the scarlet-coated emissaries of England do today.

On no other basis will the classes unite with you. Do you expect the masses to fight for this ideal?

When you talk of freeing Ireland, do you only mean the chemical elements which compose the soil of Ireland? Or is it the Irish people you mean? If the latter, from what do you propose to free them? From the rule of England?

But all systems of political administration or governmental machinery are but the reflex of the economic forms which underlie them.

English rule in England is but the symbol of the fact that English conquerors in the past forced upon this country a property system founded upon spoliation, fraud and murder: that, as the present-day exercise of the ‘rights of property’ so originated involves the continual practice of legalised spoliation and fraud, English rule is found to be the most suitable form of government by which the spoliation can be protected, and an English army the most pliant tool with which to execute judicial murder when the fears of the propertied classes demand it.

The Socialist who would destroy, root and branch, the whole brutally materialistic system of civilisation, which like the English language we have adopted as our own, is, I hold, a far more deadly foe to English rule and tutelage, than the superficial thinker who imagines it possible to reconcile Irish freedom with those insidious but disastrous forms of economic subjection – landlord tyranny, capitalist fraud and unclean usury; baneful fruits of the Norman Conquest, the unholy trinity, of which Strongbow and Diarmuid MacMurchadha – Norman thief and Irish traitor – were the fitting precursors and apostles.

If you remove the English army to-morrow and hoist the green flag over Dublin Castle, unless you set about the organisation of the Socialist Republic your efforts would be in vain.

England would still rule you. She would rule you through her capitalists, through her landlords, through her financiers, through the whole array of commercial and individualist institutions she has planted in this country and watered with the tears of our mothers and the blood of our martyrs.

England would still rule you to your ruin, even while your lips offered hypocritical homage at the shrine of that Freedom whose cause you had betrayed.

Nationalism without Socialism – without a reorganisation of society on the basis of a broader and more developed form of that common property which underlay the social structure of Ancient Erin - is only national recreancy.

It would be tantamount to a public declaration that our oppressors had so far succeeded in inoculating us with their perverted conceptions of justice and morality that we had finally decided to accept those conceptions as our own, and no longer needed an alien army to force them upon us.

As a Socialist I am prepared to do all one man can do to achieve for our motherland her rightful heritage – independence; but if you ask me to abate one jot or tittle of the claims of social justice, in order to conciliate the privileged classes, then I must decline.

Such action would be neither honourable nor feasible. Let us never forget that he never reaches Heaven who marches thither in the company of the Devil. Let us openly proclaim our faith: the logic of events is with us.

These words were true 121 years ago, and can be seen as having been prophetic - for the modern Irish state is bourgeois, decadent and a celebration of degeneracy.  Connolly tried to warn the Irish people, but his words went unheeded.

A more recent voice of reason comes from Kim Jong Il, who stated (February 2017):

It is important to have a correct understanding of nationalism. Only when they have such an understanding can people achieve national unity, champion the interests of the nation and contribute to the shaping of its destiny.

Nationalism came into being as an ideology for defending the interests of a nation in the course of the latter’s formation and development. Although nations differ from one another in the period of their formation, every nation is a social community which has been formed and consolidated historically on the basis of a common kinship descent, language, residential area and culture, and is composed of various classes and strata. There is no person in any country or in any society who exists outside his or her nation, separate from it. Every person belongs to a class or stratum, and at the same time to a nation, endowing that person with both a national and a class character. Class character and national character and the demands of classes and nation are inseparable from each other. As a matter of fact, the classes and strata of a nation entertain different demands and interests owing to their different social and economic functions. However, all the members of a nation have the same stake in championing the independence and character of the nation and attaining national prosperity without distinction of the interests of their classes and strata. This is because the destiny of a nation is precisely the destiny of its individual members; in other words, the latter is dependent on the former. None will be happy with the sovereignty and honour of his or her nation being trampled upon and national character disregarded. It is the common ideological feeling and psychology of the members of a nation to love their nation, cherish its characteristics and interests, and yearn for its prosperity. Nationalism reflects this feeling and psychology. In other words, nationalism is an ideology that advocates love for the nation and defence of its interests. Since people carve out their destiny while living within the nation-state as a unit, genuine nationalism constitutes patriotism. The progressive nature of nationalism lies in the fact that it is a patriotic ideology which advocates the defence of national interests.

Nationalism emerged as a progressive idea along with the formation and development of each nation. However, it was understood in the past as an ideology that defends bourgeois interests. It is true that in the days of the nationalist movement against feudalism, the newly-emergent bourgeoisie, upholding the banner of nationalism, stood in the van of the movement.

At that time, the interests of both the masses of the people and the newly-emergent bourgeoisie were basically coincident in their struggle against feudalism. Therefore, the banner of nationalism seemed to reflect the common interests of the nation. As capitalism developed and the bourgeoisie became the reactionary ruling class after victorious bourgeois revolutions in various countries, nationalism was used as a means of defending the interests of the bourgeois class.

The bourgeoisie disguised their class interests as national interests, and used nationalism as an ideological instrument for solidifying their class domination. This led nationalism to be understood, among the people, as a bourgeois ideology that runs counter to the national interests. We should distinguish clearly between true nationalism that loves the nation and defends its interests and bourgeois nationalism that advocates the interests of the bourgeois class. Bourgeois nationalism reveals itself as national egoism, national exclusivism and big-power chauvinism in the relationship between countries and nations; it is reactionary in that it creates antagonism and disagreement between countries and nations, and checks the development of friendly relations between the various peoples of the world.

The original revolutionary theory of the working class failed to give a correct explanation of nationalism. It paid major attention to strengthening the international unity and solidarity of the working class all over the world-the fundamental problem in the then socialist movement-failing to pay due attention to the national problem. It went so far as to regard nationalism as an anti-socialist ideological trend, because bourgeois nationalism was doing great harm to the socialist movement. This is why progressive people in the past rejected nationalism, considering it incompatible with communism.

It is wrong to view communism as incompatible with nationalism. Communism does not advocate only the interests of the working class; it also advocates the interests of the nation-hence it is an ideology of loving the country and the people. Nationalism is also an ideology of loving the country and the people, as it defends the interests of the country and the nation. Love of the country and the people is an ideological emotion common to communism and nationalism; herein lies the ideological basis on which they can ally with one another. Therefore, there is no reason or ground to pit one against the other, and reject nationalism.

Nationalism does not conflict with internationalism. Mutual help, support and alliance between countries and nations-this is internationalism. Every country has its borders, and every nation has its identity, and revolution and construction are carried on with the country and nation as a unit. For this reason, internationalism finds its expressions in the relationships between countries and between nations, a prerequisite for which is nationalism. Internationalism divorced from the concepts of nation and nationalism is merely an empty shell. A man who is unconcerned about the destiny of his country and nation cannot be faithful to internationalism.

Revolutionaries of each country should be faithful to internationalism by struggling, first of all, for the prosperity of their own country and nation.

For the first time in history, the great leader President Kim Il Sung gave a correct explanation of nationalism, and elucidated the relationship between communism and nationalism and between communists and nationalists in his revolutionary practice of carving out the destiny of his country and people. He said that in order to be a true communist one must first become a true nationalist. With a determination to devote his life to his country and fellow-countrymen, he embarked on the road of revolution in his early years and created the immortal Juche idea, on the basis of which he established a Juche-oriented outlook on the nation, and scientifically expounded the essence and progressive character of nationalism. Through a correct combination of class character with national character and of the destiny of socialism with that of the nation, he realised an alliance between communists and nationalists, cemented the class and national positions of our socialism and led the nationalists to join the efforts for socialist construction and national reunification. Attracted by his broad magnanimity and noble personality, many nationalists took the patriotic road to national unity and national reunification, making a clean break with their erroneous pasts. Kim Ku, a life-long anti-communist, allied with communists, a patriotic changeover, in the twilight of his life, and Choe Tok Sin, a nationalist, was able to find salvation as a patriot in the leader’s embrace. The great leader treasured and championed the independence not only of our nation but also of the peoples of the rest of the world. He devoted all his efforts to the cause of making the whole world independent, as well as to the Korean revolution. We can say that there has been no man in the world as great as him, who devoted his whole life to the nation’s independence and prosperity, and a bright future for mankind. He was the most steadfast communist and, at the same time, a peerless patriot, true nationalist and paragon among internationalists.

I also assert, as the leader instructed, that one must be an ardent patriot, a true nationalist, in order to become a genuine revolutionary, a communist. The communist who fights for the realisation of the independence of the masses of the people must first of all be a true nationalist. Those who fight for their people, their country and their homeland are genuine communists, true nationalists and ardent patriots. Those who do not love their own parents, brothers and sisters cannot love their country and compatriots. Likewise, those who do not love their own homeland and people cannot become communists.

We are inheriting with fidelity the great leader’s noble idea of loving the country, the nation and the people, and making every effort to rally all the sections of the nation by dint of all-embracing politics, and lead them to the road of patriotism.

It is not communists but imperialists who oppose nationalism and place obstacles in the way of the independent development of nations at present. The imperialists are manoeuvring cunningly to realise their dominationist ambition on the plea of “globalization” and “integration.” They claim that the ideal of building a sovereign nation-state or the love for country and nation is a “national prejudice lagging behind the times,” and “globalization” and “integration” are the trend of the times in the present situation, when science and technology are developing rapidly and economic exchanges between countries are being conducted briskly on an international scale. Today, when every country and nation is carving out its own destiny with its own ideology, system and culture, there can never be a political, economic, ideological and cultural “integration” of the world. The manoeuvres of the US imperialists for “globalization” and “integration” are aimed at turning the world into what they call a “free” and “democratic” world styled after the United States, and thus bringing all countries and nations under their domination and subordination. The present era is one of independence. Human history is propelled by the struggle of the masses of the people for independence, not by the dominationist ambition and aggressive policy of the imperialists. The manoeuvres of the imperialists for “globalization” and “integration” are doomed to failure, as they are opposed by the vigorous efforts of the world’s peoples aspiring after independence.

We should resolutely oppose and reject the manoeuvres of the imperialists for “globalization” and “integration,” and staunchly fight to preserve the excellent characteristics of our nation and safeguard its independence. We frequently emphasise the Korean-nation-first principle so as to preserve the national character and defend the independence of the nation.

We in SWPE are Left-wing Nationalists.  We love our country, we love our People.  This love is what makes us Socialists, it is what makes us Internationalists against Globalisation and Imperialism. 

There is no contradiction between Patriotism and Socialism.  Indeed the two are so intertwined that the absence of either makes an ideology of absurdity.

For Class and Nation.  For Closed Borders and an Internationalism built on Mutual Respect and Clearly-defined Immutable Sovereignty.

Long Live the DPRK. Freedom from Yankee Imperialism

Today marks what would have been the 105th Birthday of the founder of the free sovereign Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

The capitalist multi-millionaire president of the USA has threatened the DPRK with war for daring to have its own system of government and to live as a shining example of the fact that it is possible to have an economy which serves the people and not global bankers.

We salute the people of the DPRK and pledge our friendship and our support for all who are fighting against the terrorist maniacs who are pushing the USA and its criminal Zionist collaborators to threaten the DPRK with war.

The 'crime' of the DPRK is its determination to maintain its own way and to not submit to the tyranny of global finance capitalism and multinational corporate slavery.  The DPRK is one of only a very few countries without a Rothschild Central Bank.

As stated on the DPRK's website:

"The Democratic People's Republic of Korea is a genuine workers' state in which all the people are completely liberated from exploitation and oppression. The workers, peasants, soldiers and intellectuals are the true masters of their destiny and are in a unique position to defend their interests."

It is for providing living proof that the despotism of globalism is not all powerful that the DPRK is lied about and threatened. Unlike the war-mongers of the globalist west, the DPRK has never invaded another country, seeking only the unification of its own territory in the 1950 war of liberation, which would have freed the south of Korea but for the interference of the USA - the very country which had created the lapdog south in 1945 as a part of their continuing war of aggression against the peoples of Asia.

The declaration that the DPRK will go to war if the USA chooses the path of war, is not a statement of aggression, but of resistance to aggression. The DPRK will not be bullied by the terrorists of the USA into surrendering the freedom and way of life the people of the DPRK hold dear.  We salute their resilience and stand with the DPRK should the enemies of humanity attack that nation.

Long Live the Democratic People's Republic of Korea!  May you continue to give inspiration to the world.  May you outlive your enemies and form a cornerstone of a free Socialist world in which the sickness of capitalism is swept away.
